Everyone is always asking for money it seems. I usually don’t give outright money on the street, but today I needed to pass it forward. Wholefoods had goofed on ringing me up, so I went to customer service to have it corrected. Kudos to them because they gave me a freebie to make up for the trouble. At Columbus Circle there is always an organization collecting money for the homeless in a big water jug. ’Even a penny helps’ they always say. Today there was a fresh faced young woman named Whitney soliciting with her jug. I popped in a dollar and got into a conversation with her. The money actually does go directly to buy food and the collectors are purely volunteers. Here is a young woman giving up her day off to help those who are down and out. I felt so humbled by her generosity. Kudos to her.
