I had a date lined up with this great guy I was just starting to see. Bought the cute new top (yes, I am human and not zen all of the time), took a nap so I would be bright eyed and bushy tailed, cleaned my studio, put fresh sheets on the bed, shaved my legs, etc, etc. Then I got the text: “Can’t – sorry – ‘ll call and explain later tonight.” Needless to say, I was very bummed, cried (yes, I’m an artistic feeling type) for a couple of minutes and then got up, put on my cute new top and decided to take myself on a date. I did everything I liked to do. Went for a walk in Central Park, then called a gay friend of mine to see if he would let me treat him to dinner in the Village. We found a great Thai place where I was actually able to practice my 5 words of Thai. Of course, I had to textl my bf in SD to tell her all that was happening and she texted back: “Lol. Sounds very Sex in the City.
I ended up having a good time. I would still have rather not had my SITC moment, but sometimes you just have to flip a situation and keep moving forward. copyright Jillanne Emerson www.Jillanne.com May 18, 2008
