Cabbies – NYC Moment #19

May 19, 2008

I had the nicest Cabbie today.  I hear a ton of horror stories of NYC cab rides of course.  He just had a nice energy about him, responded to me when I asked him how his day was and didn’t kill us getting to my destination.  I’ve been having many nice moments in life.  Perhaps it really is true that you get what you give.

Listening to others – NYC Moment #15

May 15, 2008

Yesterday I had something happen in life that threw me a bit.  I knew that I did not want to embrace this little bit of drama and have it grow in my life, but I also know that I just couldn’t ignore it.  So I talked about it with a few friends and of course my mom.  Each person had a slightly different take on the situation, but ultimately I know that I am the one who has to decide which course is best for me.  After all, I am the only one who has walked in my shoes for my lifetime and what is good for someone else may not be in my best interest.  This really hit home this last winter when big stuff was happening in my life.  If I had gone with my own instincts I would have been better off rather than doing what others though was best.  Lesson learned.  So for this very minor drama, it helps to talk out loud, but I know that I will go within an pull out the answer that is right for me.  In this big city, there are a plethora of opinions.  I am grateful to those who shared their thoughts because I truly can’t think of everything and from those thoughts I will do what is right for Jillanne.
