Why Stop The Fun? – NYC Moments: #113.5

June 4, 2009

BUTT GRABBINGI actually wanted to write this blog last night, but I was so darn tired, so here it is now.  (Hence the #113.5)  This is about the butt grabbing part of #113.  I at a networking event and though I am an ‘Artistic Person’ I was in business mode.  So there I was standing at the bar waiting for my drink when I felt not one, but both my checks being fondled.  I have to say it felt kinda nice buy I really wasn’t sure what to do since this was a professsional function.   It resolved itself when the grabber turned to me and said, “Did I just grab your ass?”  After looking around and seeing that there was another actor next to me, my humor set in and I said, “The actor instinct  in me really wants to keep the circle going and grab this young lady’s ass, but I think I’ll restrain myself.”  She then turns to me, “Why stop the fun?”  That is when we all burst out laughing.  It turns out that the gentleman was just taking his coat off and my rear happened to be right there.  We all had a great laugh and are now good buddies.  It’s kinda a fun way to meet people actually.

Twitter spam…Really? – NYC Moments #101

April 21, 2009

Maybe the title of this should be Twitter 101…or for that matter Facebook 101.  I’m talking about spam.  A friend of mine on FB wrote this morning, “Isn’t the point of Twitter that you send out short tweets less than 140 characters? I feel a bit annoyed when I get 10 consecutive tweets from the same person either continuing their message or sending out a million links to their products or sites.”  I agree.  Can you guys/gals not be so flipping narcissistic and keep it down?  There are other people out there in the world to share the space with after all…

7 Things You May Or May Not Know About Me, The Game – NYC Moments: #94

January 2, 2009

My best friend in San Diego, Jennifer Mitchell (http://socialmediapr.wordpress.com/) tagged me with ‘7 Things You May Or May Not Know About Me, The Game’.  Usually I just delete these things, but since she is my best friend and I want to be able to continue sleeping on her sofa when I go to visit…Well, here goes:

“Seven Things You May Or May Not Know About Me”  is a game that has been circulating around the blogosphere.  Bloggers are asked to both reveal seven things about themselves others may not know, and to tag seven other bloggers.

1.  My first parts modeling job here in NY was for ‘Allure Magazine’…it was a picture of my tush…

2.  I always wanted to be a performer, so I bought my first guitar about in 2008…I’ve been tapping since 2007…Earned my SAG card in 1997…finished my  professional training as an actor here in NYC in 1998…

3.  I have A LOT of different assets to my personality: depth, kid-like, flip cab drivers off, spiritual, reading blob, compassionate, not much into relationship games, big heart, love to laugh, music is essential, my friends and family are my second rock (I’m my first), gullible, sensitive, determined, love to nap, love to write…

4.  Speaking of my laugh…it’s unique for sure…

5.  I’ve been stitched up four times…

6.  I’m a pretty good shot…photo and gun-slinger 🙂

7.  I have valid state id’s in NY, CA and HI…

A New Year…NYC Moments: #93

January 1, 2009

I know I can’t click my heals together and make everything that was yucky in ’08 not be, but it sure is nice to be able to use the New Year as a reason to move forward.  I feel so light and fresh today.  Maybe it is because I gave up the apartment with the noisy air conditioner units outside my window.  Or it’s because I have two months of not having to pay rent and get to go bum it in Hawaii for 3 weeks.  Maybe it’s because the holiday season is over (I’m in retail: http://www.jillanne.com/) and I actually have time to sit in a coffee shop and just breathe again.  Or it could be that I listened to some cool music last night at Rockwood Music Hall.  I could also point to the fact that I stayed up til 4am talking with a friend and getting some things off my chest.  Who knows?  Maybe it is that I decided to fire myself yesterday (I’ll rehire myself with a raise tomorrow).  All I know is that I’m very hopeful for a great 2009.  I hope that you all get everything you want and need in the coming days…Viva 2009!!!

Does NYC make us or do we make NYC? -NYC Moment #16

May 16, 2008

If you can make it in NYC you can make it anywhere.  So the saying goes.  The competitor in me rose up to the occassion and here I am living back in NYC.  This of course isn’t my only reason for coming to this fair island.  NYC is THE place for many things.  Dance, writing, business, theatre, etc.  I was living in a jewel of a city, but it wasn’t enough for me.  Yes there was dance, writing, business, theatre, etc., but it was at a different level.  More laid back.  I guess I am ok with being a small fish in a big pond rather than the reverse.  I want to learn from the best.  I want to collaborate with the people who are creating the next ‘thing’ in dance, writing, business, theatre, etc.  So then the question of this title comes into play.  NYC has the best, but then in the process of ‘making it’ here, we all become ‘the best’, so then, we are the ones making NYC.
